Although my initial love for architecture came from wandering the streets of my own town, it wasn't until I took a trip to NYC while studying photography, that I really started to appreciate interior design and knew I wanted my future to involve recording these creative spaces that we live within.
Years ago, documentary was the first genre of photography that drew me in. Still today, the walls of my home are lined with black & white streetscapes from my travels. It's with this same documentary eye that I approach interior photo shoots. Recording that sense of place the designer has created is essential. How the light is falling in the room, what elements of the design to highlight and how the tones and colours look all create the ‘feel’ of the space. Being able to capture that on my camera is what I love most.
